Donald Trump's Framework of Retribution and Reward

Donald Trump's intense desire for retribution has swiftly morphed into a structured system. Within the past year, the chief executive's anger and caprices have assumed the form of official policies in ways reminiscent to earlier repressive governments. Justice department officials who fail to comply are promptly removed and succeeded by devotees. Critical figures who challenge him face prosecution, court proceedings and punishment. Adversaries have been labeled under presidential directives as “hostile to national interests”, “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”, and menaced with criminal charges as “terrorists”.

Federal Agencies Remade

All situation involving targeting of political opponents and protection for supporters demonstrates its own unique qualities. But, notwithstanding their specific form, they exemplify manifestations of what has developed as a deliberate method. Such episodes are not random. Trump's cleansing of federal prosecutors and FBI agents, accompanied by his placement of loyalists in high-level positions, began rapidly, soon took on a consistency, and has now been formed into a structure. Federal prosecutors and the FBI have been restructured into ideological organizations under his explicit orders to execute his directives. Injustice has been made routine. It constitutes the system of punishment.

Management is more concerned with punishing the President's supposed enemies than they are with safeguarding our public welfare.

Inside the System

The origin of this system has been revealed in the lawsuit of three ex- top Federal Bureau executives submitted in late summer in the US district court in DC against agency head a senior appointee and attorney general a key figure for unlawful firing in “a effort of payback against the officials for what Defendants judged to be a failure to show sufficient political loyalty”. According to the filing that a former acting director, the former interim leader, describes a exchange in which Patel “publicly admitted the impropriety of his conduct”.

He had tried to shield FBI agents from being dismissed, the filing claims. He told him that “they” – understood by the official to be the White House and DoJ – had instructed him to remove all those who they considered as having participated in a criminal investigation against him. The complaint continues: “The director stated that he had to dismiss the people his bosses told him to dismiss, because his ability to keep his own job was contingent on the dismissal of the officials who handled cases involving the President. Patel commented that there was no way he or the official could do to halt these or any other terminations, because ‘the agency tried to put the leader in prison and he remembers.’” After the official informed Patel he was breaking the agency's own regulations, he supposedly said “he recognized that and he realized the essence of the summary firings were probably improper”.

Extensive Consequences

After the director's alleged admission to him, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau have been dismantled and reorganized for his retribution system. Six of the FBI's top officials were dismissed or pushed out in the initial period of the presidency. Approximately 4,500 professional attorneys at the department have agreed to a “deferred resignation program”. At least several DoJ lawyers, such as those in the New York office, resigned in objection over what they regarded as political interference in dropping the legal action against the local official, Eric Adams, in as a trade for his cooperation with his ICE detentions of foreign nationals. The public integrity section of the department, which oversees corruption cases, has been reduced to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been decimated: the majority of its personnel has departed. One-third of top officials at the justice department have resigned. The division implementing conservation statutes has lost a majority its supervisors.

Incentives and Sanctions

Concerning the mayor's situation, the temporary lawyer for the federal division, she, resigned in objection against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. Tom Homan, Trump's “immigration leader,” showed up as the agent with the mayor on Fox News to declare: “Should he fail to deliver, I'll reappear in the city.”. Meanwhile, Emil Bove, earlier the senior DoJ official and a past legal representative, who brokered the deal, was given an appellate federal judgeship, a possible springboard to the supreme court.

His immunity for crimes perpetrated while in power, awarded by the unprecedented decision of the GOP-led on the highest court, thus blocking his criminal case over the January 6 insurrection and safeguarding his political viability for the national vote, is the foundation stone on which he relies to protect his supporters. With such immunity, he has been empowered to permit corruption. The consequence of the judicial ruling saturates his presidency and the GOP completely. Trump v United States has metastasized. Similar to a past leader's administration lawyer the figure said about the Watergate
